Moreton First offers a first class start to a child's education. We ensure that all pupils develop personal and academic confidence so that they can embark upon the next stage of their school career with a full range of essential skills both inside and outside the classroom.

Moreton First enables pupils to enjoy learning in their own carefully adapted
classrooms and to benefit from the excellent facilities of the main school and the teaching of staff qualified in primary education as well as subject experts.

The academic programme concentrates on Mathematics and English in the
mornings, followed by subjects such as French, History, Geography, Science, Art and Craft, Music, Food Technology, ICT and Sport. Tennis coaching, music, Spoken
English and riding lessons are available.

Entrance requirements
There is no entrance examination, but diagnostic testing is carried out in
the first term. Any pupil who requires it will be given extra help from
Moreton’s highly praised Special Needs department.

Curriculum
The National Curriculum is followed through a tailor-made programme which
carries the flexibility and additional scope which an independent school education offers.

The School Day
This flexibility is also a keynote in the timing of the school day. Lessons
run from 8.40 a.m. - 3.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. There is no Saturday
morning school in Moreton First.

After half an hour’s break, there is a homework session (Prep) for one hour.
This is supervised so that pupils can concentrate and make best use of the
time available. Following Prep there is a lively programme of activities:
Sport, Drama, Music, Art and Crafts are among the many club-based activities provided to entertain and stimulate pupils. The end of the school day is designed to be as flexible as possible and to cover all parental, as well as pupil, requirements.
Climbing frame

Thus pupils can be collected either at the conclusion of formal lessons, at 3.30 p.m., or after tea at 4 p.m., after prep at 5.00 p.m. or, finally, at the end of activities at 5.30 p.m. Alternatively pupils may stay for supper and leave at 6.30 p.m. or stay on after supper and sleepover. A combination of all these alternatives can be arranged to cover all eventualities.

Facilities
The Moreton First classrooms are attached to Norton-Roberts, the Junior Boarding House. They are specially equipped for the younger pupils; however, pupils also use Moreton Hall’s impressive facilities: ICT Centre, Darwin laboratory, Design Centre, Music School, Musgrave Centre/Theatre, Language laboratory, Sports Hall, open-air swimming pool, and the recording studio and Radio Station.
